WetPaint Nail Glaze

WetPaint Lewd over OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui
I saw a Facebook post about The new glazes by Wetpaint Nail Glaze System. I followed the link to their site to check out the products. However, I still wasn't sure how they would actually look over regular polish. I posted a comment mentioning my questions. Rita at WetPaint offered to send me a few to try. I think it shows they have faith in their product by sending it to someone who was openly a little skeptical. The above picture is Lewd layered over the Suzi Says feng Shui. I love that it is not opaque and adds some depth to the finish. I was afraid it would be streaky like other sheer polishes I have tried, but it totally wasn't.

In future posts I will try their nail glazes over other polishes and especially over some glitters. I have a feeling these glazes will make some awesome Jelly Sandwiches! Sorry for the short post but I just had to share my initial swatch of this product. I have Lewd (PurpleZ), Loco (Blue), Anguish (Green), and Willful (Yellow) to swatch.

OPI Austin-tatious turquoise

I hadn't planned on wearing this color last weekend. However, my daughter had just bought it and we were going for pedicures. It was a perfect color for a beach day. The last four or five days have been rainy and now the color feels cold. I want to wear a warmer color. I just received some nail mail yesterday with Manglaze Santorum and Lesbi-honest. I couldn't resist buying Lesbi-honest just for the name and label. I may wear it on my toes with a topcoat.

I tried Santorum on my nails tonight. I guess I didn't bring my "A" game. The results were less than stellar. I don't fault the polish, I still have issues with getting the right amount on the brush. I don't have enough to make it from the base of the nail to the tip, and other times I end up flooding my nail. After it dried, I saw what a disaster it was, so I put a clear top coat on it. The color looks great with a top coat; it draws out the shimmer in the polish. It is a nice rich brown. I like it way better than the person it was named after. My daughter hated the color. I asked her what she didn't like and I got "it's brown". I was relieved that it was just that she isn't into brown. I told her I would switch to blue tomorrow. I have been wanting to wear Ski Teal We Drop again. It is my favorite dark teal color.

Yodel me on my cell

Outdoors and cloudy skies.

Yodel me on my cell by Guy Polish ( Jim)
Yodel me on my cell, a photo by Guy Polish ( Jim) on Flickr.

I did go on Friday to my regular payday pedicure, even though I had my post divorce pedicure 3 days ago. I have to admit, I really like my nail tech. She is so cute. Also, she is honest with me if she thinks a color is wrong for my skin tone. If I were a lot younger, I would be hitting on her. I'm old enough to be her dad. With all that said, I still picked a color I knew she would like. It was OPI Yodel me on my cell from the Swiss collection. I didn't realize until I was reading another blog that I have 3 or 4 polishes from that collection. There are a number of really awesome blues in that collection.

Looking at this picture I can see how much better shape my feet are in compared to when I first started blogging. It makes my hands look like they went through a meat grinder. It probably would be safer to eat with my feet than my hands. Getting a manicure a couple of times a year just doesn't cut it. I would have to do it every two weeks like the pedicures to get rid of the alligator skin hands.

OPI - My Private Jet (again)

I finally got a nice sunny day to bring out the awesomeness of this polish. I know this color has been blogged to death. I just think it is a great color for guys. It is a dark gray with the addition of the holo glitter. From any distance it just looks gray. I think it is good for a guy who doesn't want to wear black but wants to wear polish. It doesn't make people think your trying to look goth or like a rocker. I'll see if anyone says anything when we go shopping tomorrow. So far the only comments I have received have been positive.

Teal Toes! OPI _ Teal the Cows Come Home

I would like to thank follower Neelai for noticing I have been choosing dark colors. I hope this counts as a light color. It was funny, I was just in my local Trade Secret looking for this color for the September "Teal Toes" ovarian cancer awareness month and they were out of it. I usually bring my own polish to my pedicures. The bottles there always look so used. However, I came across a blue that caught my eye and sure enough it was the one I was looking for. This color just pops in just about any light. If no one comments on my toes, I know it is not because they didn't see them! My favorite Nail tech wasn't there yesterday. If she was there, she would have sucked me into getting some nail art. She knows I love it. You can learn a lot by watching someone who does it day in day out.

If the weather holds out, I have to go for a swim at the beach to test drive my toes! Have a good weekend.

OPI - Yodel me on my cell

Daytime outside.
Night time with flash.

OPI- Yodel me on my cell

Today I parted with my Blue steel and zebra stripes pedicure. I was amazed with how it held up. Not a single chip in two weeks. BB Couture polish really holds up. My nail tech has figured out I am a sucker for nail art. She handed me the sample wheel as soon as I was in the chair. I swore I wasn't going to do it. But when we reached that point, she picked up the wheel and pointed to one she thought I would like. She picked the one I had thought about. She is a nail tech and a freekin psychic! Once again I really love it. My aunt told me that her nail tech was talking about what nice toenails I have.  I went in with a headache and left feeling great. It must have been a stress headache. Next pedicure, I swear I am not going to get nail art unless I give up on my diet coke habit. I need to drink more water anyway. Now we will see which addiction means more to me!

OPI - Mermaid tears

Daytime

Inside (blurry)

I tried my daughters Mermaid tears to see what it would look like on my feet. I thought it would look a little girly, but I actually liked it. I really like the pictures I have seen with silver shatter on top.

Tomorrow is payday, which means it is pedicure day! I am actually going to get a manicure also. My nails and cuticles are a mess. I was thinking of taking BB Couture "Blue Steel" to my mani/pedi.  If I get brave enough, I will have her put it on both my toes and fingers. I have never had a professional manicure with color before. I could leave it on all weekend. We are going shopping afterwards. I've wondered how long it would last. The clear I wear gets all scratched up at work in one day. What chance does a color have?  I've daydreamed about wearing polish to work. That would be the final breaking free of the social pressures to conform. I don't even think I would want to have to be fixing my nails all the time; just the idea that I could, if the spirit moves me.

Skull & Glossbones with Black Shatter

Sorry, the flash makes my feet look red and blotchy.

I wasn't really fond of Skull & Glossbones on my toes, so I put Black Shatter over it. Still doesn't really do anything for me. I think the name of the polish is what made me buy it. I will try the Mermaid tears next and see how I like that.

Picked up some new colors.

I stopped at Trade Secret today in our mall. They finally got in the Pirates collection minus the silver shatter. I bought "Skull and Glossbones" and "Mermaid Tears". I thought my daughter would like the "Mermaid Tears". I'm sure I will try it too. The girls at trade secret must have picked up on the fact that I know way to much about the OPI stuff to just be shopping for my daughter. I like going back there because they make me feel welcome and treat me like any other customer. Kim at OverallBeauty.com in conjunction with Cindy at BB Couture have been the absolute best at helping me to explore the world of color. I feel like a traitor when I don't buy stuff from them. I like the BB Couture polishes for the microshimmer. But for creme colors, I like OPI.

Ski Teal We Drop

Yes I did wimp out.  The color rack is soo disorganized. It is like looking at a mosaic. I want it to look like the color spectrum. I am hunter not a gatherer. Lock me in the salon alone for a half hour and that rack would be easy to find a color your looking for.  If I am hit with two many choices all at once, I freeze like a deer in the headlights. I would like to find a teal that is a little lighter than this one. This one is a bit subdued.

Another guy came in for a pedicure while I was getting mine. It was his first. He didn't even get his nails buffed let alone polished. I am not sure he will be back. I think his girlfriend must have made him come in to take some of the roughness off his feet. Hawaii can be hard on your feet if you go barefoot a lot.

BB Couture Horned Devil with Black shatter

Living on the big island of Hawaii, I was looking at lava and had an idea. What if I combined Horned devil which looks like hot lava to me with black shatter. The result look like when moving lava crusts over and then breaks a part. I didn't take the time to clean up around my cuticles, since it was just an experiment and I don't  normally wear polish on my fingers. I bought these for my 14 year old daughter.

Let the Ladies pick my next pedicure color (OPI Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow)

This week is my pedicure week. I was wondering what color the nail technicians would choose if I let them pick the color. It could go a couple of ways. They could choose a color they think would look good on a guys feet. Although, they might go with something that is bright and bold that I might be uncomfortable sporting around town. Either way it will be fun. Worst case, I don't wear sandals when I'm out and about. At least I could look at them at home.

They were conservative in the choices they picked. One was a really dark purple that looked like Lincoln Park after dark. I picked OPI Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow. I didn't care for the suede finish so I had them put a top coat on it. After trying BB Couture Pipe Bender, I decided I do like green. If it holds up, I'll keep this one until my next pedicure.

OPI Barefoot in Barcelona

This color is OPI Barefoot in Barcelona. I am not sure the cell phone camera does it justice. I have stopped using the cell phone to take pictures of nail colors. I'll repost a new picture the next time I wear that color. I still have so many I haven't tried yet. I keep looking for chips or an excuse to take off what I am currently wearing. I am not sure my results would be perfect like my nail tech. I hate seeing imperfections. That is why I will never attempt to tape and Spackle drywall joints anymore. Every little imperfection just drives me nuts every time I look at it.
