Soulstice - Berlin

Outdoors Bright sun.

Outdoors Bright sun.

Indoors at night.

Me looking all dorky!

I really love this deep color. I won't say what color, because I suck at it.  I'll let the pictures speak for them selves. Ok, I'll call it a deep dark cherry. Reminds me of the cherries in a German chocolate cake. Two coats and you are good to go with this polish. I am really impressed with both of the Soulstice colors I have tried. I must have been over tired or something, because I incorrectly called Soulstice Troy by the name of Kent in one of my posts. I have no idea where the name Kent came from. I don't even know a Kent, other than the mild mannered reporter better known as Superman. After my brain fart was pointed out to me, I went back and fixed my post.

My regular nail tech is no longer at the salon and now I have to get used to another person. She speaks less English than the last one. That makes three times I have had to change in the past year. I would love to have someone fluent in English so we can converse or at least understand my requests. This girl wanted to get out the  razor blade of death and take it to my foot. I said NO! If they think I need that, they haven't been doing there job recently. Since I go for a pedicure every other week, I shouldn't have any build up that needs anything that drastic.  I was also told, since I am a diabetic, to never let them use one. Diabetics feet heal slowly and are susceptible to infection. Also, I guess those razor scrapers are outlawed in a lot of states. I have been on a diet for one week now and have lost 8 pounds. On this low carb high fat diet, I am allowed to eat as much meat and vegtables as I want. I just have to initially keep my carbs under 50 for the day. I love it so far. I don't walk around hungry, in fact I can go longer with out feeling hungry than ever before. Since starting I have not needed one drop of insulin! I want to get back to looking muscular without having the spare tire.

Soulstice Berin is an awesome dark vampy color that looks great on anyone. They are batting a thousand with me!

  1. Great color! And yes, those razor things are against the law in many states. My tech (who is a master ninja tech) also told me that if you use them, the callus will just grow back thicker. Ewww. And good for you on the diet! I sooo need to do that. Perhaps starting Monday...maybe. :o)

    1. I read the same thing about them growing back thicker. The weird thing is that I don't have an thick areas that need it.My first nail tech was so knowledgeable about special needs of diabetics and really seemed to know her stuff. I miss a real professional.

  2. Hi Jim first off I love the flower! You clearly have "man" feet as you are a guy but the flower does not look out of place to me at all! Second I love the color--LOVE IT! And I'm pretty sure you are talking about my favorite cake in the world Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte which in English is Black Forest Cherry Cake. A fantastic chocolate cake soaked in cherry liquor and then topped with cherries and whipped cream! Now I'm hungry lol Geeze I shouldn't have talked about the cake first because I wanted to say great job on your diet--low carb works great for me as well. I'm sorry you lost your nail tech but this one did a great job on your pedi at least

  3. This color looks great on you! I actually kind of wish my husband would try this (he wouldn't, ever) because I actually feel like this is a deep vampy red that any guy could pull off and still be 'manly' as it were. Looks awesome and I love the nail art.

Good luck with the diet-- my willpower is too weak to give up the carbs!

    1. The nails look lovely-this tech did a much better Job! BTW-when I do nails on a client that has diabetes, I don't cut nails with a toenail clipper, I take the length down; I don't nip with a nipper, I buff all the hangnails off. And when I push cuticles, I use an orangewood stick. : )

  7. I love color like this too. I'm still trying to master application of colors like Essie Wicked-- using thinner coats to maintain that 'cherry' color but not having any streaks. I never considered doing nail art on my big toes; I have some stamping plates that might do the trick. Looks great!

  8. I was impressed with her work. I was amazed how much you can do with a dotting tool. I have been playing with my dotting tool to practice doing these kind of things myself. I can't wait to be able to do nail art on a girlfriend. I've struggled with weight gain since graduating college. I am motivated to lose weight to feel better about myself and help find a girlfriend once my daughter graduates high school.

  9. Oh, I really like the deep dark cherry colors. All of a sudden I have, like, four bottles of different brand dark cherry colors. Kha. But I wanted to say, Start Baking! Get yourself some stevia, erythritol, Just Like Sugar, almond flour, coconut flour, oat fiber, canned beans, eggs, cherrys, chocolate, cream! Several low carb blogs that teach you how to make yummy treats with these ingredients. Healthy Indulgences, Maria's Nutritious and Delicious Journal, All Day I Dream About Food. These all have sweet treats that are low carb. For me, I never had a sweet tooth until I went low carb and lost some weight. Yay You with your weight loss! Keep us posted on the journey.

  10. Oh, yeah, the frightening pedi tools. I always refuse and I have never had a regular tech that I go back to, just never clicked with anyone, they are always dismayed when I don't let them attack my feet...odd. lol

  13. Dear Jim, we could have not found the e-mail link(and it seems that reasons are obvious - stalking haters always stalk somewhere nearby).
We are a russian webzine, which is interested in all the forms of gender bending practices; hobbies to which people dedicate themselves.
Your passion for colours is tricky and great, and we wondered whether you might have talked of it to us.
We are situated at http://tesnota.com/, and our mail is tesnota.zine@gmail.com, would be great if you had time to tune in.

  14. I love dark colors as well, and dark cherry type colors are some of my favs. I've never tried nail art, but this one really intrigues me, so maybe one day.

My wife was diabetic for many years until she lost her weight and now needs nothing. She also got rid of several other problems and uses less meds just from the weight loss, so good for you on your goal.
