Expanding my addiction!

OPI Just Spotted the Lizard

Manglaze Royal Matrimoaning

Before I get started with subject of my post I wanted to update you on my work and polish issue. I started wearing some of my favorite guy colors to work. I gave up on subtle when a nurse was wearing blue and then black with glitter. If she can wear darker colors, so can I. The other day I was wearing Manglaze Royal Matrimoaning shown above. The clinical manager chuckles and says I can't get over your nails and matching toes(my toes do not match, but whatever). She seems to not care anymore. I think she was just uptight when corporate was coming to visit. I am ok with not wearing polish when the big wigs are going to be around.

Now on to subject of my post. I purchased the new Mash plate set after seeing Laurie from Dressed up Digits posts using some of those plates. I tried Konad when I bought it for my daughter and I to try, but they had few images that interested me. The Mash plates have lots of images that I like and they aren't all flowers and butterflies! Above is my first time doing all ten nails with the stamper. I think I needed to use a image that covered more of the lizard; it still looks a bit loud for me to wear on my nails. However, people are either going to think I'm odd for wearing polish or think it is cool. So I might as wear whatever I like. So stamping is my new level of polish addiction. I currently don't have any TV reception and my only internet is using my Droid as a WIFI hotspot. It actually works good with Netflix on a good day, other days it sucks. I have had time in the evenings to play with polish and do some reading. I just finished Catching fire, the book after the Hunger Games. I enjoyed it so much, I started the third book. I hadn't read any books since the last harry Potter book came out. I'm glad my oldest daughter sent these books to my kindle.

Practice, practice, practice, I want to get good at stamping. Next, I want to wear black and stamp flames on my nails using Just Spotted the Lizard for the flames and Mash plate 48, which is the same plate used for the above stamping. I guess I'll have to be James, the guy on fire with that mani!

  2. I have an issue with manglaze and I hate most of their stuff but WAY TO GO about your decision to wear polish for work!!
I think it's cool. Took me a while to get used to the idea but now I really think it's cool!

As for the stamping - i'm all so very jealous... I am having a very hard time getting those. Most of the time I only manage to get about 60% or less of the image transfered into my nails :-(
But yeah, I guess practice makes perfect... or at least just a little better LOL

  3. When I first tried the stamping, I had the same problem. try using lighter pressure when lifting the image from the plate. I am getting better each time. Once people realize I am the same guy they knew, just with polish, it becomes a non issue.

  4. I'm really glad your work lightened up on the polish restriction! I generally wear neutral polish if I'm on travel representing the company, or doing a company event. Otherwise anything goes :)

I just saw some blog posts about the MASH plates too. I previously tried the Salon Express kit but had a lot of trouble. I realize now that I should try with less pressure and be quick about it. I think the polish was drying in the plate. I ordered a Konad stamper, black special polish, and I'm about to order the MASH plates. Can't beat $12.99 for 25!

I've been laid up post-surgery lately so I have been reading on my Kindle a lot too. I read all 3 Hunger Games books and really enjoyed them. I visit www.pixelofink.com almost every day and pick up a bunch of freebie books. Some are good, some aren't, but I figure for free, it doesn't hurt to try them out.

    1. Your right about pressure and speed, that's where practice is helping me. Until they showed up in the mail, I was sure there was no way I getting that many plates for $12.95. Next I am getting the DRK-B plates fron Nija Polish. I plan on starting the third book tomorrow. I enjoyed the first two. I know I like a book if it keeps me up later than I should on a work day. I hope your recovery is going smoothly.

  5. The stamped mani looks so awesome! I just finished Mockingjay - the third book in the series, and read all three of them in the past week and a half. They really are good, aren't they? Now I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to watch the movie...

  6. I watched the movie first, then my daughter sent the books to my kindle. You should watch the movie now. I am glad I've read Catching Fire before it comes out in theaters.

    1. I can't wait to do it. Maybe I can do it in a base color acceptable to work. Dark blue with gold or silver flames.

  8. I love your Mash stamped manicure! It's a strong, masculine pattern and a great alternative to all of the flowers and butterflies out there! :) Also glad to hear that your workplace is easing up on your wearing polish. I agree that if a woman can do it, there is no reason you can't. Good for you!

I love reading, but I haven't picked up the Hunger Games yet. I keep hearing good things. Right now I am on a murder mystery kick, but maybe I should give Hunger Games a try.
