Happy Feet and goals for 2013

My Christmas Pedi 2012
This is my second annual Christmas pedi. It has been over a year since I embraced polish and I can't see myself ever going back to boring hands and feet. Once you get used to expressing your self with color it become a part of you. If people think I am weird, so be it. I am really happy.

My goals for next year are:

1. Lose the final 30 pounds to reach my goal weight.
2. Learn to use acrylic paints for doing nail art.
3. Get a roof on my off the grid container home
4. Add another Kilowatt of solar panels. This will help generate enough power even on rainy days.
5. Consider dating again now that it will have been a year since our ugly divorce. I am not going to actively seek someone, just be open to dating if I happen to meet the right lady.

The first item is the most challenging. I have lost around fifty pounds and have hit a plateau. But I never am going back to being on insulin again.

Ruby Pumps stamped with Cheeky Jumbo D in black.

BB Couture Grey Matter stamped with Briquette.
Above are my two latest mani's. I actually like the way the red looks better, but don't feel as comfortable wearing it to work. I did the second one to try and look like brain. I just need to rid myself of that last bit of insecurity. The brighter colors are way more fun.

  4. That's the most festive lacquered toenails I've ever seen. Seriously!
Good luck with your projects. I cross my fingers for you!

  5. I'm also loving the pedi! Is that a stamp or did you freehand little lines and dots? It's a very lovely idea anyway. The gray mani looks sort of like a brain, but gray-pink would be much closer. Maybe next Halloween you can get some pink polish and make bloody brain nails.

    1. The pedi wasn't done by me. It was done by my nail tech. That is a great idea for next Halloween.

  6. Love the Ruby Pumps. I picked up a sample bottle last week and have that on my toes for Christmas. I've got to get a stamp as well.

  8. I'd like to share my resolution and ask a question. I have resolved to not have plain bare toes ever again and to have color on my fingers at least half of the year. That being said, how do you make it last on your fingers? I have only been able to go a couple of days without chips regardless of using clear base and top coat or not. I know the gel polish is supposed to last two weeks but is there another way?

    1. Before I had acrylic nails, I couldn't go more than 2 days either. It gave me plenty of practice at painting mt nails. I get bored with a color by then anyway. Now I can get my polish to look as good as when the lady at the salon does them. With acrylic overlays, the polish will last more than a week in most cases.

  9. Hi! Just wanted to say THANKS for being a public DUDE who likes to wear colored nail polish. I'm a Mom, and I convinced my 4-year old son to sit still for nail cutting by rewarding him with nail polish on his toes, and recently, his fingers. (He likes BLUE, of course, his favorite color.) BUT two friends (1 girl, 1 boy) at preschool made fun of him for having colored nail polish. His teachers are very supportive of him. I took to the 'net to find other pictures of Dudes Wearing Nail Polish, and found your blog. THANK YOU!

    1. I am glad I could help. I think attitudes are changing slowly. The whole J. Crew controversy and Jenna Lyon's sons toes pointed out how ignorant some people can be. However, I think it exposed the stupidity and actually may have helped the cause. Polishing nails or toes won't make someone gay. I am not gay and I love being able to express my self with color. I also don't understand how letting others love whoever they want is so bad. We need more love and less hate in the world.

  10. Love your nails and the blog! Keep up the good work. It's because of people like you that men are now starting to paint their nails. That's why I started.
