I cant stand my really short nails!

CG Meteor Shower over Sensational Blue Yonder
It has been a week and a half since removing my acrylic nails that I loved. I only removed them to be replaced with the Custom Nail Solutions nails that I ordered from them. This weekend I made the impressions of my natural nails and sent them back on Monday. Now it will be three weeks of hell. It is so much more fun to polish and stamp longer nails. The polish adhered to the acrylics and never chipped. With my thin bendy natural nails, I am lucky if I make it to work with out a chip. To counter that problem, I applied Sensationail Blue Yonder gel polish. So far I have made it 24 hours without a chip. I plan on leaving it on as long as it lasts. I polished and stamped over it as shown above.

My new nails will be a little shorter than my acrylics were just before I removed them. As much as I loved the length, they were making life a little more difficult in two ways. First, It was harder at work. I was always hitting one key with the pad of my finger and accidentally pressing another with the nail. I also found it difficult to work with small screws and nuts when assembling pump motors I rebuilt. Secondly, they had reached a length where there was no denying that they were not my natural nails.

One of my female co workers got a new set of acrylics with dark blue tips. I was a bit jealous because I always wanted to try having fancy tips on my nails. I told her the were really pretty. She said she has to go back and have them shortened because it is hard to type. I told her I know what she means. After I said it I was wondering if I should have said that, but she didn't blink an eye. At least people are accepting enough to just let me be myself. If they don't like it, they have at least kept it to themselves. Really that is all I expect.

If these nails turn out to be as great as the ladies who have them said, I will wait for a sale and order a second set in a longer fun length. I will use them to do nails for nail art contests and when I just want to enjoy some long lovely nails.

  1. It's hard to go from long nails to short nails. I had to file mine done just a bit because I had a slight corner break and while mine are still what most people would consider very long I can tell the difference and it just screams at me. I personally think dark colors always look better or short nails though, so this looks fantastic!

    1. Thanks Laurie. I also love to see skittles on short nails. It seems like really fun designs look great on short nails.

  2. Your nails don't look bad at all! Just short & short nails really aren't as much fun to do art on. Have you tried typing with the tips of your nails, rather than the pads? You don't have to press the keys all that hard & I've never broken a nail while typing. (tho I did keep getting my nails stuck between keys when they were really long lol) Also, try using the side of your fingers to hold small bits instead of the tips, so your nails are endangered or in the way.

    1. So true! I started letting my nails get longer so I could have more fun with Stamping and nail art. After a while I started typing with the tips. The clicky noise was amusing. It does take some relearning to do things in a nail friendly way. I can't wait to get my nails longer again.

    2. Me too! I made it to 1" in Dec then nubbined my pinky. blerg. Now they barely go past the tips of my fingers & I feel like I've been declawed. LOL Yeah, not using your nails as tool takes some practice, but it's worth it. <3

    3. I was getting pretty good at it. The 3 months I had the acrylics, I never had to go back and get any fixed. That included working on my truck and framing some walls.

    1. BundleMonster.com has their 2012 stamping plate set. It has some great images. Also, search amazon.com for Mash 2012. That is another set of plates thatg have some great images. They have skulls, barbed wire and other not so feminine images. As toy can see I love the Stars and planets.

  8. I love the nail art designs, been watching a lot of youtube nail designs! I'd like to try the marbleing effect, it looks so cool! my problem is my wife, she hates that I wear nail polish so I normally strip it off in the evenings on my way home from work so she doesn't get all over me about it! I've told her to "get over it and have fun with it" but she is so backward and conservative sometimes, drives me crazy! I've been married to her for 20 years now and I just tell her I'm wierd and going to stay that way, lol! but I love your nail color, very pretty!
Have been growing my nails out for a month now and last week filed them to be more of a narrow type point, really cute and I call them my "man claws". I have another manicure scheduled in 2 weeks and am not going to cut them, I think my nail tech will love them! good job on the nails and keep the color flowing!

    1. My ex-wife wasn't all that supportive. It sucks that a little paint can cause such problems. However, attitudes are changing and I have had little backlash since going polished full time. Most people just ignore it. I think they are afraid to bring it up or don't care. Most comments are positive ones by women. In fact some cashiers go out of their way to see what I am wearing each day. I love it when the polish is the focus and not who is wearing it. I don't regret it at all.

  9. I know how it feels when a lady compliments your nail color, had a nice girl say she liked my pink nails (they were actually rasberry color) and it really made me feel good!

  11. I cannot believe i waited soooo long to polish my nails. When i do go out without them polished, i feel like a part of me is missing. I have over 225 colors in my collection and i change them every few days or so. Mostly because i cannot wait to try another color, not because they chip or whatever. I get about 6 good days before any chips or tip peelback from the Seche Vite top coat. Hoping to purchase a stamping kit in the next day or so because ive gone as far as i can in the neatness or shiniest of my nails. I even make the girls in the local stores or beauty supply places jealous cause mine come out CLEAN AND PERFECT.... Wish i could post a pic or two of them but then again
, this is YOUR blog, not mind so keep up the awesome blog and i hope to post very often. Sibcerely. Chuck Von Dietsch
