Wore flip flops to work.

I purposely wore my flip flops in to work today. However, no one saw my feet before I changed into my work sneakers. When I punched out I also wore my flip flops and didn't run into anyone. I want to get it over with so I don't have to think about it. I saw my soon to be ex-wife today. She saw my toes and didn't say anything. I guess she is playing nice today. I was hoping she would say something so I could tell her that I wear polish everywhere now. I am waiting for a package to arrive with my BB Couture polishes I ordered. If it shows up before my pedi, I may get Bandito on my toes. It is an awesome dark purple that is similar to China Glaze Midnight ride.  Vampy Varnish's blog has a side by side comparison: http://www.vampyvarnish.com/2011/06/china-glaze-midnight-ride-bb-couture-bandito-reader-request/.  I also ordered a couple of nail wheels to practice on.

  1. Jim,

Good job on wearing your flip flops into work. You do what makes you happy. I'm guessing you work at a hospital or something like that. You've probably got posters on the wall celebrating diversity. Wearing nail polish as a guy is just a way of being diverse. Who wants to be just like the next guy that does everything just like everyone else just to try to fit in and not stick out?

I'm happy I'm at a point in my life where I can do what I like and not care about what other people think. I've always liked feminine things and that's ok. This year I've went all in, just to name a few things: Leg shaving every day, eye brow plucking, hair dying, monthly pedicures with polish, learning how to do my own toe polish, giving myself manicures, wearing women's nylon trouser socks instead of men's dress socks, wearing women's capri's, wearing women's jeans (which are a hell of a lot better than men's, let me tell you), etc.

Does all that make me strange? Probably, but who is it hurting? No one. I like doing all of it. Am I gay? No. Do I care if someone calls me gay? Only barely, I don't care if you are gay or straight, just live your life.

You gotta be you, don't let others tell you how you have to act. I walked into a Walgreens yesterday in my jean capris, flip flops, and beige polish on my toes with a shimmer coat over the top. A teenage girl and her mom noticed, but I just rocked on. Act confidently and no one is going to bother you.

  2. Amazing, more men are getting into the nail polish craze, or passion I should say. What was your passion into trying it and start wearing it, for me it was my wife and I, (now she's my ex wife) and I am still wearing it...I commend your passion Jim. My name is George, do you face book?

    Love,

    George :)
