OPI - My Private Jet

After my disaster on Friday night trying to come up with a contest submission, I decided to try this color I bought on my vacation. I have wanted it for a long time. I decided it would be a good color to wear on my nails. Actually, the awesomeness of this color is lost on toes. On my fingers, I can stare at it as much as I want! I went out grocery shopping and the check out women said she loved my nails and really liked the color. It made me feel good that she was accepting of polish on guys.  The down side is  they were chipped before two in the afternoon. I painted them the night before, so they should have been dry and hard. I used a base coat. That has been my biggest concern about wearing polish on my fingers. I hate seeing chipped nails; it would drive me nuts having to look at them chipped. I don't know how the ladies keep their nails looking so beautiful. The camera catches ever bit of polish you miss when cleaning up. I need to get better at that.

  1. This is lovely, it really suits your nails! As for shipping, do you use a top coat? I find it a bit hit and miss as to whether it helps but generally with top coat my polish chips less. But some people say that with holo polishes top coat dulls the holographic effect.

  2. I read the same thing. That's why I didn't use one. I know when I get a pedicure at the salon, the polish lasts until my next one. If I do it myself, it chips in a day or two. Maybe it is the base coat I am using. I've been using the Nailtiques base-coat that is supposed to strengthen my nails. I wonder what top-coat they use at the salon. I'll have to ask next time.

  3. I use sally hansen hard as nails topcoat. Biggest thing is to make sure is completely dry between layers. My nail last the whole week without chiping. I also use essie man I cure for the base. The matteness of it helps polish stick better

  4. Jim,

Polished fingers don't last as long as polished toes, the reason being, well we do stuff with our hands. The ladies, as you you mentioned, are either very careful with their nails, or they retouch them frequently. On the topcoat front, I use Seche "Vite", it is a phenomenal product. You apply it while the polish is still a little wet and it causes the polish to flow and smooth out and dries to a fantastic gloss. Sometimes I'll put a matte topcoat over it, like Essie "Matte About You", or OPI "Matte Nail Envy" to knock down the gloss a bit.

  7. Hey Kevin, I started using Seche Vite a while back. Your right the stuff is awesome. I didn't use it on the MPJ because some say a top coat messes with the holo effect. I have the new version of MPJ and it isn't very holo anyway. So, next time I'll try it with the top coat to see if it holds up better.

Bosmikal, I'll give Sugar daddy a look next time I'm at the store. Thanks for the suggestion.
