BB Couture - Dark Passage

Sunlight

indirect sunlight

Top coat has weird haze to it!
Hello Everyone! I finally got a pedicure with BB Couture Dark Passage. I wanted to wait to post when I could show you the color with a good application. I am usually very happy with the work of my nail tech. Unfortunately, she is human too and had an off day. The top coat she used must have been contaminated from another polish. It is only noticeable when there is really good light, like the kind I want to take photos in! The second thing was the top coat didn't cover all of the base color along the side of my big toe. If I wanted half ass, I'd do it myself. It is going to annoy me until I remove it. I may attempt to just redo the big toes.

Enough with the grumbling. Dark passage is a deep rich dark brown with just enough shimmer to make it interesting. I think it is a great color to have in any guys collection of polishes.  It doesn't look like your girlfriends polish. It goes great with leather sandals or tan pants or shorts. I would feel comfortable wearing this polish anywhere. I will be wearing this to Easter service tomorrow.

Have a happy Easter everyone!

  1. Looks good - gosh - I have not spent the $ on a pedi in a long, long time. I do them all myself (and usually do them better than the ones I have paid for). Agree - this looks great with leather sandals and the casual outdoor lifestyle you have (assuming) living in HI. Happy Easter!

  2. RE Your wish list - DV8 easy to find and not pricy - unless you mean DV8 L8R which some folks get mixed up between the 2 (DV8 - gold - DV8 L8R - amazing lighter green and one of the hardest to get hold of in that collection). Midtown Magic - very easy to find now on eBay and Amazon plus eTailers. It's a great shade. LPAD - a MUST for you - also easy to pick up - it's still in the classics collection at retail that sells the entire collection - plus on eBay...a classic you need! Can you get ManGlaze over there? They have some really great shades. As far as Suzi Loves Sydney - hard one to land...and not too sure why other than it's older and yet when I see it, it's usually under $10 on the secondary market...sometimes run into it on etailers but still the same price as on eBay/Amazon by the time I get shipping in. Nice shade for you - see why you want it. Those black label older OPI's are harder to track down but that one is not impossible. I bid on it and barely lost it this week because I was not on line at bid end. I saw another one just by random totally not looking for it, today again on eBay. About the only ones looking for it are those who are trying to collect the entire Aussie OPI Collection.

  3. You might want to take this post out after you read it. You need to add some more ways to follow your blog than just the Google e-reader (dashboard gone now)....there is a super easy Widget to add to let folks follow by email that Blogger takes care of the whole thing with captchas and Feedburner confirm of email addys. Then also easy to add widget for Bloglovin that many use now. All their blogs come in one email reminder per day - or folks can go to their Bloglovin.com dashboard anytime to catch up. All are free and offer a lot more means that suit folks needs. Google+ and now no Dashboard but reader instead has some issues for some. I never use it.

  5. Very good color on you! Instead of redoing your big toe can you just put another coat of topcoat over it and see if that fixes it for you? I hope you and your daughter have a lovely Easter--I'm sure the weather in Hawaii is fantastic, we have a chillyish semi cloudy day here in Wisconsin.

    1. Thanks Cat, It is growing on me. I have been in a bright color mood, so this was quite a departure from the in your face colors I was wearing.

  8. I love your blog! I think more guys should embrace this. It's a fun and easy way to decorate yourself. My fiance loves to have his toes done. He tells other people that it's his daughter practicing her nail art, but if you pay attention you can really tell the difference between when she does it and when I do, LOL. I also wanted to say that you have great nails!

    1. Thank you, I have used my daughter as an excuse when wearing zebra stripes on my nails. My toes are another story. I freely admit I just like them with polish.

    2. I do like the colour, however, it's obvi your tech didn't do a very good job that day-I see uneven polishing and filing oopsies. I would've honestly asked for a re-do. Sorry I'm so blunt but as you know, I make a living doin' nails. : )

  9. She used to do such a good job. I went for a pedicure tonight and guess what, she is no longer employed there. Maybe others complained about the drop off in quality. It is a shame, I get used to someone and then they leave. I am on my third nail tech in the past year. I would really like to find one that speaks english and I can count on to be there for a long time. I only go there because I take my Aunt with me for her appointments. She can't drive anymore and she has gone there for years.

  10. Hey Jim!

This brown looks really rich, and I like how the shimmer keeps it from looking flat.

It's cool that you get your nails professionally done. Haha, I've never gotten my nails done professionally. I like to do it myself (even if it doesn't come out perfectly). :)

    1. I like darker colors that have a little shimmer to keep them interesting. Even a matte polish like Manglaze Matte is Murder has a little shimmer to it. It must be why I love Manglaze and BB Couture for Men.

  11. Love the color. I had my nails done once and was so disappointed that I paid someone to do them, and they didn't do much better than I could on my own. I have never even considered it since.

    1. I do my own nails. I let them do my feet since it is hard for me to do them myself. At 6'4 and not extremely flexible, it is hard to do a great job.
